About us

Holistic Beginnings was founded in 2019 by Dr. K She had the vision to open this healing center after her life-changing experience with a Naturopathic Doctor and the traumatic birth experience with her first child. Her personal experiences changed her life on such a profound level she has made it her life goal to help others see, feel, and embody natural health.

HB is a growing business that focuses on health in all of its forms, from conception, birth, to end of life care. We are a remote and brick and mortar practice. We currently have clients in more than 20 states and even in Germany! We believe in getting to the root cause of “dis-ease” as the best way to achieve optimal wellness and healing. Suppressing symptoms is a band-aid, where working with our team to personalize your healing journey provides true healing.

The programs we discuss fit your personality, lifestyle and bio-individual needs with the most efficient methods to beginning your healing journey. We house many health-related items from supplements, homeopathic remedies, personal care products, and tools (ex: Avacen, Iteracare wand, Lifewave patches and beyond). All of our products are available to the public and our clients. Our services include naturopathic appointments where we discuss your individual needs for health and wellness; doula packages where we support, educate and empower our clients throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum care; massage and bodywork that includes myofascial, craniosacral, light healing touch, and many more modalities.

Nola Mark

NHT, Energy Worker

Nola is a retired school teacher/counselor whose interest in natural health began in 2008, two years after having been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  After being on almost 30 medications and supplements per day and seeing little to no improvement in her condition, she sought out alternative methods of health care.  Through dietary changes, holistic dental services, quality vitamins and herbal supplements and energy work, Nola was able to return to a “normal” lifestyle within months and continues to enjoy an energetic, vibrant and balanced life.  Holistic modalities brought the symptoms of chronic fatigue, Epstein-Barr virus, hormonal imbalances, heavy metal toxicity, restless legs, insomnia, daily headaches and adrenal fatigue under control so that she could not only function but thrive daily while she continues to work on curing the root causes of all of the above.

In order to heal properly, Nola believes we must work on ALL aspects of health - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and energetic.  After studying many topics in each of these areas, Nola has developed a passion for the energetic and emotional realms.  She specializes in many emotional and energetic modalities including craniosacral therapy, meridian clearing and balancing, Access Bars®, polarity therapy, Reiki, emotion code, raindrop therapy, emotional release with oils, tuning forks and Neural Organizational Technique.

Nola takes a kind and compassionate approach with all of her clients, meeting them where they are and gently facilitating healing as their bodies are ready to accept it.  While her healing intentions will be different for everyone’s unique situation, her overall desire is that you leave a session feeling lighter, freer, more hopeful and encouraged.

Nola is also a Quantum Human Design specialist, and she loves to teach classes on the subject, as well as do individual readings and host “deep dive” retreats.  When she is not doing energy work or studying Quantum Human Design, she loves to kayak, take long walks in nature, scrapbook, knit, crochet, spend time with her family and enjoy her childhood home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Courtney Pearce

NHT

After high school, Courtney had no idea what she wanted to do other than something that involve traveling. She attended Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business Management and a minor in Spanish, which included spending a semester in Spain. After graduating from MSU, she spent a few years working for a hotel company in Chicago, followed by a few more years living, working and traveling overseas, before ultimately deciding to return home to the States in 2019 due to some health issues that had developed. It was at this time that her journey in natural health began.

After experiencing the runaround with several doctors office and specialist visits with no resolve, Courtney’s last straw was being told that her only solutions were to either take hormone therapies indefinitely, or to have a hysterectomy at the age of 28. She turned down both options, and decided that she was going to take her health into her own hands. In the fall of 2019, she enrolled in a Traditional Naturopathy program in Ann Arbor, and in January of 2021, she began her studies in Naturopathic Medicine at the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education in Mount Pleasant, where she is currently studying to become a Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor.

Courtney has trained in Herbology, Bodywork, Healing Touch Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Muscle Response Testing, Reflexology, Iridology, Homeopathy, Essential Oils, Flower Remedies, Nutrition, Meridian Work, Parasitology, Environmental Toxicity, and Functional Blood Chemistry. A student of life, she loves taking on new challenges and will always be continuing her education and training well past her ND certification.

When she is not working or studying, Courtney enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, fishing, yoga/pilates, live music, baking, gardening, adopting house plants, and raising animals with her partner on their 8 acre homestead. They have an interest in biodynamics and soil restoration and plan to eventually run a Community Supported Agriculture program off of their property in the future.

Tanya Baker

RN, BSN, FNP, IHP

Tanya began working in healthcare over 15 years ago.  She graduated with her Registered Nurse degree from Lansing Community College, furthered her education to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at University of Michigan and did additional training for Family Nurse Practitioner at Purdue Global. With this education she worked in a family practice where she realized prescribing a medication to cover up an illness is not the answer. Her drive in curiosity led her to a passion for finding the root cause of disease.  She became certified in functional medicine and started to incorporate this into her practice, while working for the family practice she continued to feel the push for prescribing medications and decided to leave. After making that decision she went back to school and became certified as a Integrative Health Practitioner.

She stumbled upon Holistic Beginnings in 2022 when working towards healing hormone imbalances and infertility with herself holistically. Meeting Dr. Katie and seeing her passion for holistic healing gave her an extra push to take the road less traveled and follow her dreams to join Dr. Katie’s team. During that time frame she started following Dr. Katie, got started on a protocol, and has improved her hormone health drastically.  Tanya is passionate about finding the root cause of one’s symptoms, starting them on a healing protocol, and getting them to feel the best they have ever felt. She has a very welcoming personality that makes you feel comfortable, and easy to talk to. One of her favorite quotes from family and friends she has worked with is hearing “I never knew I could feel so good.”  Tanya plans to continue her education in all things holistic to best serve her clients.  You can find her at our second location in downtown Fowlerville!

Charlotte Gross

Licensed Esthetician

Charlotte studied at Brighton Institute of Cosmetology, where she completed 750 hours of Esthetics training. She received certifications in Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Barbicide, and Skinny on Skin (A Skin Care Certification for Melanoma) and became certified in Professional Advanced Dermaplaning before becoming a Licensed Esthetician.

Charlotte found her true passion for holistic healing halfway through her schooling after going to Holistic Beginnings to begin the journey to heal her acne. While going through her healing journey, she noticed how much different she felt mentally and physically, and she began to pour all of her trust into Holistic Beginnings due to her own body feeling better and hopeful testimonies from clients who had the same skin concerns. In a couple of short months, Holistic Beginnings sparked her curiosity and she began researching how the body, mind, and skin are all connected.

She soon understood that topical skincare products cannot always treat acne and other common skin conditions. This realization led her to find her passion in performing facials and aligning with Holistic Beginnings’ belief in getting to the root cause. Facials became her way of detoxing from the stresses in her life as she provided clients with the true power of touch and relaxation.

Since your mind, body, and skin are all connected, Charlotte believes that her craft of performing facials is a key component in becoming your best self for the ones you love, while using products that enhance your already beautiful self.

Charlotte is so excited for you to experience the healing power of touch, and all of her expertise in between!

Chase Tracy
Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner

Chase began her journey in 2018 as a pre-med student with the aspiration of helping others. However, after facing her own unresolved health challenges and experiencing only prescription-based treatments with debilitating side effects for over two years, she sought answers beyond conventional medicine. Working with a holistic practitioner opened her eyes to the world of functional health, ultimately leading her to identify and address the root causes of her own health issues.
Realizing her true passion lay in uncovering what makes people sick rather than simply masking symptoms, she transitioned from traditional medical studies to pursue a career in functional health. As a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, Chase specializes in using advanced diagnostic lab testing to provide in-depth insights into her clients’ health. She takes a personalized approach to each case, focusing on identifying underlying imbalances and empowering individuals with actionable solutions for lasting wellness.
With a deep commitment to education and individualized care, Chase is dedicated to guiding her clients through their health journeys, helping them regain balance, vitality, and a renewed sense of well-being.

Chase will be in our Fowlerville Location!
